Cities, Districts, and Counties, Along with Public Enterprise Employees, Collect Over 32 Million Won in Donations
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City will deliver consolation money to military personnel and duty police officers, voluntarily collected by employees of the city, district and county offices, and public enterprises, in celebration of the year-end and New Year holidays.
On the afternoon of the 23rd, Deputy Mayor Byeongjin Lee personally visited the Air Force Air Mobility Reconnaissance Command to deliver the consolation money. Senior officials at level 2 or higher, including Planning and Coordination Director Kyungjoo Song, will visit military units within the Busan area by December 30 to express gratitude and deliver consolation money to military personnel fulfilling their national defense duties during the year-end period.
Every year at the end of the year, the city visits local military units and police stations, mainly led by senior officials, to offer encouragement and deliver consolation money. Considering the recent resurgence of COVID-19 in the region, the consolation money is handed over to institution heads, who then convey regards and words of encouragement to the military personnel on their behalf.
Since 1978, Busan City has participated annually in the ‘Military Personnel Consolation Fundraising’ organized by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. This year, from November for one month, employees of the city hall, business offices, autonomous districts and counties, and local public enterprises participated, raising a total of 32,366,000 KRW.

Mayor Hyungjoon Park expressed his gratitude, saying, “It is because of the dedication of the military personnel defending our territory in cold weather that our citizens can live comfortably.” He added, “I hope that the consolation money collected with sincerity during this cold winter will convey warmth, and we will continue to actively cooperate with local military units to strive for regional development.”
