Building and Vehicle Damage... No Human Casualties Reported
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] A shell fell on the local office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which is conducting relief activities in Ukraine, causing damage to the building and vehicles.
On the 21st (local time), the ICRC stated, "Late in the afternoon the previous day, the office in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, was shelled, damaging part of the building and several vehicles," adding, "No office staff were killed or injured."
Other organizations collaborating with the ICRC also suffered shelling damage. The ICRC reported, "At a hospital in Donetsk that we support, two patients died and several were injured due to shelling over the past weekend. Last week, a volunteer working with the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team was killed by shelling in southern Kherson."
The ICRC strongly condemned the hostile acts that negatively affect the humanitarian activities of the Red Cross, stating, "This is a violation of international humanitarian law obligations, which prohibit harming civilians or damaging civilian facilities, including humanitarian facilities."
