Hapcheon-gun Holds This Year's Local Food Index Forum
Establishing a Foundation to Activate 'Food Plan and Regional Food Index Participation'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 23rd that it held the "2022 Regional Food Index Evaluation Regional Feedback Discussion" with the participation of about 60 people including public officials related to food policies, organizations, activists, and producing farms.
The discussion, hosted by Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) and organized by Local Partner Plus and Community Link Cooperative, was held to review the progress of regional food policies targeting local governments nationwide and to encourage participation in the food index evaluation.
In particular, the 3rd discussion included participation from Yeoju-si, Gunsan-si, Uiseong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, and 18 cities and counties in the Gyeongnam region.
The event featured a lively forum with various opinions presented on management plans through sharing excellent cases of regional food indices, exploring ways to promote food plans, deriving phased implementation plans for regional food plans, and establishing mutual networks related to public-private governance and the food index.

County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol said, "As part of practical efforts to establish a virtuous cycle system for regional food in Hapcheon-gun, we will pilot operate the Food Integrated Support Center in March 2023," adding, "Today’s discussion will be a good opportunity to raise awareness of local food policies and encourage community participation."
