Yangsan-si Announces Winners of the 9th High School Students' 'Policy Proposals I Draw' Contest
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Yangsan City has selected and announced the winning teams of the 9th High School Student Policy Proposal Contest, "The Policy Proposal I Draw."
This year, 20 teams consisting of a total of 51 students from 9 out of 11 schools in the district participated, submitting various ideas for the transformation of Yangsan City in the form of webtoons and photo-toons.
All proposals from the 20 participating teams were nominated as candidates, followed by a first round of online voting and department voting involving all employees. Subsequently, the top 10 teams were selected through voting and the final rankings were determined after a second evaluation by the Yangsan City Administrative Coordination Committee.
The Grand Prize was awarded to the "Watercolor Team" from Yangsan Girls' High School for their project titled "Unwelcome Visitor in Daily Life: Am I the Only One Sensitive? (Pigeon Population Control Project)."
The idea, which received the highest scores from the judges, involved installing automatic feeding devices with sterilized feed to reduce damage caused by pigeons and promote coexistence with them.
The Excellence Award went to the Nagongyuk Team from Hyoam High School and the Yongdeongdeongi Team from Gyeongnam Foreign Language High School, while the Encouragement Award was given to the Seasoning Team from Hyoam High School, Barrier Friend Team from Seochang High School, and S-TMI Team from Hyoam High School.
Additionally, the Effort Award was granted to the Eungabi Team, Carrot Carrot Team, Chamjaigiya Team from Gyeongnam Foreign Language High School, and the Bayanggil (Right Yangsan Guide) Team from Seochang High School.
The winning teams will receive the Yangsan Mayor’s Award, with the Grand Prize team awarded 1,000,000 KRW, the two Excellence Award teams each receiving 500,000 KRW, the three Encouragement Award teams each receiving 300,000 KRW, and the four Effort Award teams each receiving 100,000 KRW as prize money.
The winning works can be viewed by anyone on the Yangsan City website under the "Communication & Participation - High School Student Policy Proposal Contest" bulletin board.
Im Chae-yeon, a student from the Grand Prize-winning "Watercolor Team," said, "Although there was some concern in selecting a topic that would benefit more people, there was no major difficulty with the new format. I am happy to receive the Grand Prize and hope that many more good policy proposals from high school students will emerge in the future."
