Furniture Industry Targeting New Semester Demand Boom
Hanssem launches new product 'Joy S2'
Illoom holds 'Kids Room Upgrade' event
Desker expands lineup to target market
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The furniture industry has entered a competition to launch new products targeting the year-end and New Year sales boom as well as the new school semester. This is interpreted as a strategy to seek a turnaround after this year's performance worsened due to the real estate market slump and rising raw material prices.
Hanssem, a furniture and interior company, recently launched a new product called 'JoyS 2' under its student and children's room furniture brand 'Joy.' This product is optimized for online learning using digital devices, which has spread since COVID-19. The desk is equipped with a multi-stand convenient for placing tablets and laptops, and a wide monitor shelf for installing monitors as standard features.
Unlike the original JoyS, which was available only in a 1200mm single size, a 1400mm product is now also available. This can be combined with the monitor shelf, two types of upper cabinets, and four types of LED lighting to create various configurations. Special cabinets allow choosing between a multi-storage cabinet or a dressing table, considering children's lifestyle patterns. The storage package consists of a wardrobe, side cabinet, sliding cabinet, 4-drawer chest, and mobile hanger. Jung Yujin, head of Hanssem’s Study & Children’s Room Product Department, said, "It is suitable for children entering elementary school who need to establish proper sitting posture and organizing habits," adding, "We recommend customers planning to set up study and children’s rooms for the new school year next year to visit a nearby store."
Il룸, a furniture company under the Fursys Group, is running a 'New Semester Kids Room Upgrade' promotion. This event offers gifts based on the purchase amount when buying Il룸’s student room series products. For example, purchasing above a certain price including best-selling desks like the Linky Plus set provides necessary items for students such as LED desk lamps. An Il룸 representative explained, "Since a kid’s room requires careful changes according to the child’s growth process, we prepared this event for the new semester."
Soho furniture company Deskker has expanded its lineup with products like the 'Motion Desk Smart Set' for growing students. This product supports heights up to 70cm or less, considering the child's height during growth. It also features a height adjustment lock function for safety. Using the desk cabinet included in the set, books, various stationery, and learning tools can be easily stored. With this lineup expansion, Deskker now offers a total of five motion desk models, including four new motion desks and the existing motion desk control switch.
