National Cancer Center and Indonesian National Cancer Center Sign Hematopoietic Stem Cell MOU

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] The National Cancer Center is strengthening cooperation with the Indonesia National Cancer Center to manage hematopoietic stem cell transplantation medical services.
On the 21st, the National Cancer Center announced on the 22nd that it signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in the development of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and the management of medical services, attended by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the Embassy of Indonesia in Korea, and officials from both institutions.
The two institutions previously signed an agreement in 2018, under which a total of 10 medical staff from the Indonesia National Cancer Center received training in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at the Korean National Cancer Center. Based on the know-how of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation acquired at the Korean National Cancer Center, the Indonesia National Cancer Center opened a hematopoietic stem cell transplantation center this year.
In this second agreement, the two institutions agreed to expand the scope of cooperation to include ▲ management of medical services for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation ▲ collaboration in the field of oncology ▲ education and training programs and capacity building ▲ exchange visits.

Seo Hong-kwan, Director of the National Cancer Center, said, “Through the first agreement, the National Cancer Center contributed greatly to the opening of the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation center at the Indonesia National Cancer Center by disseminating hematopoietic stem cell transplantation technology,” and added, “With the second agreement, we will strengthen cooperation with the Indonesia National Cancer Center and fulfill our role as an international leader in conquering cancer.” Sueko, Director of the Indonesia National Cancer Center, also said, “We successfully opened the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation center after receiving skilled medical technology and know-how from the Korean National Cancer Center,” and added, “With the second agreement, we will strive to nurture cancer specialist medical staff through more active exchange, such as revitalizing education and training programs.”
