Shall We Hop Like Rabbits in 2023... 'Miryang Arirang Marathon' Held
February 26 Next Year, Four Years After COVID-19 Pandemic
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] Miryang City, Gyeongnam, is giving a New Year's gift to marathoners who have been dormant for four years in celebration of the Year of the Rabbit 2023.
The city announced on the 21st that the "19th Miryang Arirang Marathon" will be held on February 26 next year, marking the first event in four years since COVID-19.
This year's race will be divided into three courses: half marathon, 10 km, and 5 km. Online registration is available on the Miryang Arirang Marathon website, and on-site registration can be done at the administrative welfare centers in the city's towns and townships.
The registration deadline is January 10 next year, and for more details, inquiries can be made to the Miryang City Athletics Federation.
The city's Athletics Federation, which is organizing the event, has established a comprehensive event promotion situation room for the successful hosting of the marathon and held a temporary meeting on the 20th to check the progress of preparations.
They reviewed the progress and discussed future schedules to minimize the operational gap caused by the four-year hiatus and ensure smooth preparations.
Hwang Gyu-deok, president of the federation, said, "As this is a special event held after a four-year wait, we are doing our best to prepare the marathon to live up to its reputation as the nation's top premium marathon. We have also arranged various events such as a fan signing session with athlete Hwang Young-jo, and we hope participants create great memories."
