Kang Soo-yeon's Final Work 'Jeong-i' to be Released on January 20
The late Kang Soo-yeon's final work, "Jeong-i," will be released next month.
On the 21st, the online streaming service (OTT) Netflix announced that director Yeon Sang-ho's new film "Jeong-i" will be released on January 20, 2023.
"Jeong-i" is a sci-fi film depicting the story of people who attempt to develop the ultimate combat AI by cloning the brain of the legendary mercenary Jeong-i in a shelter where a war breaks out after humanity migrated from an Earth devastated by rapid climate change. The film is directed by Yeon Sang-ho, who also directed "Train to Busan" (2016) and "Peninsula" (2020). The director is determined to open a new chapter in Korean sci-fi cinema.
The curiosity grows about how the legendary mercenary Jeong-i (Kim Hyun-joo) will be reborn as the ultimate combat AI and whether she can end the long-standing war. Due to the Earth being ruined by rapid climate change, humanity creates a new habitat called Shelter and migrates to space. The military AI development company Chronoid attempts to develop the ultimate AI combat mercenary Jeong-i by cloning the brain of the legendary mercenary Yoon Jeong-i, who led countless missions to victory during endless civil wars.

Kim Hyun-joo plays the combat AI Jeong-i, and Kang Soo-yeon portrays Seo-hyun, the team leader of the research institute responsible for brain cloning and AI technology development, as well as overseeing Jeong-i's brain cloning and combat performance testing. Additionally, Ryu Kyung-soo plays Sang-hoon, the head of the research institute who must succeed in the brain cloning experiment at all costs.
