On the afternoon of the 20th, Gyeongsangnam-do entered the initial response stage for heavy snow and cold wave disaster preparedness, switched to an emergency duty system, and started spreading snow removal agents on major roads from the evening.
According to the province, Governor Park Wan-su stated, “Gyeongnam usually does not receive much snow, so it is vulnerable to even small amounts of snowfall,” and instructed, “Prepare thoroughly to prevent confusion during the morning commute.”
The province plans to continue road patrols and spreading snow removal agents in response to the Korea Meteorological Administration’s forecast that temperatures will drop again from the 22nd and snow will fall in the western inland areas of Gyeongnam.
Protection and promotional activities for vulnerable groups during the cold wave will also continue, with plans to use various media such as electronic signboards and village broadcasts to promote cold wave damage prevention guidelines.
