On the morning of the 20th, Yoon Doo-hyun, Acting Chairperson of the People Power Party's Standing National Committee, convened the Standing National Committee at the National Assembly and proposed an amendment to the party constitution and regulations, including 100% party member voting, a runoff voting system, and provisions to prevent adverse selection, which was approved as originally proposed. Of the 55 members of the Standing National Committee, 39 attended, with 35 votes in favor and 4 against.
Emergency Response Committee member Jeong Jeom-sik explained the agenda, saying, "The purpose of the party constitution amendment is to establish party democracy and prevent distortion of party sentiment," adding, "Since party members are the owners of our party, the leadership desired by the party members must be elected."
Jeong emphasized, "The next leadership elected at this party convention will be an important leadership to support victory in the upcoming general election and the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration," and "To this end, the party leader and supreme council members who unite the hearts of party members must be elected."
