Seamless Promotion for the 2030 Busan World Expo Bid Starting from the Airport
2:30 PM on the 20th at City Hall, Chief Jo Yujang and Gimhae Airport Director Park Jaehee Sign
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] On the 20th at 2:30 PM, Busan City will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation in attracting the 2030 Busan World Expo with Korea Airports Corporation at the City Hall 2030 Expo Promotion Headquarters.
At the signing ceremony, Jo Yujang, head of the city's 2030 Expo Promotion Headquarters, and Park Jaehee, director of Korea Airports Corporation Gimhae Airport, will attend and sign the agreement.
Once this MOU is signed, the two organizations will mutually cooperate in promoting the attraction of the 2030 Busan World Expo through various online and offline channels, including domestic airports (Gimhae Airport, Gimpo, Jeju Airport, etc.) websites and various advertising media.
They also plan to provide organic support and cooperation for the visit of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) onsite inspection team scheduled for five days from April 3 to 7 next year.
Since Gimhae Airport is one of the first places visitors encounter when arriving in Busan, this agreement promises full support and cooperation with Korea Airports Corporation, which operates Gimhae Airport, enabling the city to prepare a more thorough promotional strategy for the 2030 Busan World Expo starting from Busan’s main gateway.
This agreement is expected to strengthen the organic cooperation system between the two organizations, allowing for detailed responses to welcoming foreigners at various upcoming international events promoting Busan as the candidate city for hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo.
In October, Gimhae Airport operated domestic transfer flights for foreign visitors who came to Busan to attend the BTS concert supporting the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo and also increased flights between Busan and Japan.
Jo Yujang, head of the 2030 Expo Promotion Headquarters, said, “If we attract the World Expo, known as the economic Olympics, to Busan in 2030, it will become a growth engine that transforms not only Busan but the entire economic structure of South Korea.” He added, “Building on the overwhelming momentum from South Korea’s third competitive presentation (PT) to the BIE, we will accelerate our attraction efforts through this agreement with Korea Airports Corporation.”
“We will devote all administrative power until the final selection of the host site at the end of next year to ensure the 2030 Busan World Expo is successfully attracted, and we will sprint with all our strength until the very end,” he said. “We ask all citizens to unite their hearts and support Busan, South Korea.”
