Jeongeup-si 'The Gift Shop of the Storytelling Magician' Performance Successfully Concluded

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City Central Library in Jeonbuk successfully held the magic show "The Gift Shop of the Magician Who Reads Books" on the 18th at the Central Library Small Auditorium as an end-of-2022 event.

According to Jeongeup City Central Library on the 19th, this performance was organized to create a reading-friendly atmosphere for children and to help them naturally learn the joy of reading by reading and experiencing books.

The show was attended by about 120 people, including families with children aged 4 and above up to elementary school students.

"The Gift Shop of the Magician Who Reads Books" is a work inspired by Raymond Briggs' "The Snowman" and author Im Miye's "Dollar Gut Dream Department Store."

As the only "magician who reads books" in Korea, the performer combined fairy tale stories and magic to present scenes from the books like magic, helping to foster children's creativity and imagination.

Also, the magic appearing throughout the stage and the constantly changing story twists stimulated the five senses, attracting the interest and fun of not only children but also their parents.

In particular, during the performance, children in the audience were invited onto the stage to present empathy-based magic tailored to children's perspectives, sparking curiosity about books and helping to reduce the distance from the library.

A parent who watched the performance said, "I feel good because it seems like I gave my child a meaningful gift for the end of the year," adding, "It will be a memorable time as the children experience both the magic show and interesting books together."
