Sailing Toward the Era of a 1 Trillion Won Budget
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Jeollanam-do Boseong-gun announced that this year's supplementary budget was finalized at 775.6 billion KRW, an increase of 89.6 billion KRW (13.6%) from the original budget of 686 billion KRW.
By account, the general account increased by 85.8 billion KRW to 714.5 billion KRW, and the special account increased by 3.8 billion KRW to 61.1 billion KRW, marking a 10.25% increase compared to the previous year's final budget, bringing the budget close to the 1 trillion KRW era.
Despite difficult financial conditions, Boseong-gun actively promoted current projects and discovered new projects, and made efforts to reflect related projects in the government budget through close communication with the central government and Jeollanam-do.
In particular, emphasizing sound and transparent financial management, since 2014, it has been a local government with no debt at all, serving as a nationwide model for sound financial management.
This supplementary budget is a year-end budget that reflects changes in national and provincial projects and focuses on minimizing carryover and unused budgets for current projects.
Especially, to support farmers suffering from severe drought, 500 million KRW for pumping facility development and 175 million KRW for well development were urgently allocated from the pre-established budget and contingency funds, and an additional 150 million KRW was allocated for the sprinkler support project to proactively respond to prolonged drought.
Major projects include an increase of ▲3 billion KRW for rice management stabilization measures ▲2.5 billion KRW for Yeojaman Clean Fishing Ground Regeneration Project ▲2.1 billion KRW for basic pension projects ▲2 billion KRW for urban regeneration New Deal projects ▲900 million KRW for Beolgyo Cultural Complex Center construction ▲450 million KRW for private electric cargo vehicle supply projects.
Remaining funds after expenditure budget adjustments are allocated to the ‘Financial Stabilization Fund,’ enabling flexible financial management for disaster response, regional economic revitalization, major current projects, and welfare next year.
Kim Cheol-woo, Mayor of Boseong-gun, said, “Despite difficult local financial conditions, our county’s budget has rapidly increased, approaching the 1 trillion KRW era.” He added, “We will operate the budget solidly so that it is not just a numerical increase but is timely invested where residents truly need it.”
