Netflix Releases Baduk Movie 'Seungbu' Featuring Cho Hunhyun and Lee Changho
Lee Byung-hun and Yoo Ah-in Portray 9-Dan Go Masters Cho Hun-hyun and Lee Chang-ho
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The movie "Seungbu," depicting the 'Go Emperor' Cho Hunhyun and Lee Changho 9-dan, is heading to the online streaming service (OTT) Netflix instead of theaters. On the 16th, Netflix announced that the film "Seungbu" will be released worldwide, though the exact timing was not disclosed.
"Seungbu" is a film about the unavoidable match between two legends of Korean Go, Cho Hunhyun (played by Lee Byung-hun) and Lee Changho (played by Yoo Ah-in), who were master and disciple as well as rivals. It tells the story of legendary figures who dominated the world during a time when Go was even hotter than the World Cup. The film is directed by Kim Hyung-joo, who also directed "The Sheriff" (2017).
Go is called a microcosm of life. Mathematically, the outcome is decided by an incalculable number of moves and a margin of just half a point. In the fierce battle of moves, everything acts as a variable, and in actual play, dramatic comebacks occur depending on momentum. "Seungbu" captures this dynamic Go drama.
