Kumho Tire Receives Consecutive Awards for Social Contribution Activities
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Kumho Tire announced on the 16th that it has been continuously receiving awards for its social contribution activities.
On the 15th, Kumho Tire received a commendation from the Mayor of Seoul at the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation’s ‘2022 Sponsorship Appreciation Day’ event. It also received a plaque of appreciation from the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute in recognition of its contributions and achievements in local community forest development.
The ‘2022 Sponsorship Appreciation Day’ event held at the President Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, was organized by the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation to express gratitude for continuous sponsorship. Kumho Tire received the Mayor of Seoul’s commendation in the category of sponsors and meritorious contributors for disadvantaged neighbors. Since 2016, Kumho Tire has collaborated with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation to carry out projects such as the creation of ‘Hope Study Rooms,’ Santa Expedition activities, COVID-19 Safe-Box support, and children’s climate and environmental education.
Additionally, Kumho Tire was awarded a plaque of appreciation at the ‘Forest ESG Performance Sharing Meeting’ hosted by the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute. Since 2015, starting with the establishment of the ‘Kumho Tire Carbon Offset Forest’ as part of the vegetation restoration project in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Kumho Tire has been registered in the social contribution-type forest carbon offset system operated by the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute, contributing to voluntary greenhouse gas reduction through forest development. Since 2021, Kumho Tire has been conducting ‘Kumho Tire Classroom Forest’ creation activities targeting elementary schools in Seoul in partnership with the social venture Triple Planet, and is also participating in the Gangwon-do forest ecological function forest development project.
Kang Jin-gu, head of the Management Support Team, said, “Kumho Tire reflects on the meaning of ‘resources’ and invests the resources it possesses into a sustainable future. Through various social contribution activities, we aim to create an environment where future generations can live and grow, fulfilling the company’s social responsibility.”

In addition, Kumho Tire is carrying out various educational donation and sponsorship projects in fields such as children’s traffic safety education, youth school violence prevention education, and mentoring support for children of severe traffic accident victims. Kumho Tire was recognized for its contribution to the activation of educational donations and received the ‘2020 Korea Education Donation Award’ hosted by the Ministry of Education.
