Starting in February in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, Kiturami Group awarded a total of 2.3 billion KRW in Kiturami scholarships to 2,000 scholarship recipients selected by 47 local governments nationwide, including exemplary students, children from low-income families, and child heads of households, up to Suncheon-si, Jeollanam-do on the 14th of this month.
Kiturami Group's scholarship program began with the active social contribution will of its founder, Chairman Choi Jin-min, who believed that "educational opportunities should be equal for everyone." Since the first selection of scholarship recipients by the Kiturami Cultural Foundation, established in 1985 with Chairman Choi's private funds, the program has been continuously implemented for 37 years. To date, a total of about 50,000 scholarship recipients have been selected, with cumulative scholarship funds reaching 30 billion KRW.
Through its affiliated public interest foundations, the Kiturami Cultural Foundation and the Kiturami Welfare Foundation, Kiturami Group has been carrying out various social contribution projects beyond the scholarship program, returning 51 billion KRW to society so far and practicing sharing management.
Representative support projects for nurturing future talents include academic research support programs to enhance basic science competitiveness and development funds for educational institutions to improve education. In addition, the group fulfills its corporate social responsibility by promoting various social welfare support projects such as social welfare facility support, Kiturami boiler inspection projects, and residential environment improvement projects.
