View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] BGF Retail announced on the 15th that it has donated 100 million KRW to the Son Football Academy to enhance South Korea's football competitiveness and expand youth football infrastructure.
On the 12th, BGF Retail CEO Lee Geon-jun visited the Son Football Academy located in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, and held a sponsorship fund delivery ceremony for the development of youth football. The Son Football Academy is a football club operated by coach Son Woong-jung, the father of player Son Heung-min.
Last month, CU selected Son Heung-min as its official brand model. The Sony Expedition Stamp Event held on CU's membership application (app) PocketCU attracted 15,000 participants, and the World Class (Wolkeul) series inspired by Son Heung-min, including lunch boxes, rice balls, kimbap, and hamburgers, recorded cumulative sales of 500,000 units.

CEO Lee said, "Seeing the fighting spirit shown by the South Korean national football team this month giving great strength to the people, we delivered the sponsorship fund to help improve the environment for growing youth players, even if only a little." He added, "CU wants to continue to have steady interest and affection for the development of domestic youth football and become a reliable 'tall uncle' figure."
