Gangwon-do to Enhance 'Energy Performance of Public Buildings' Used by Vulnerable Groups
182 Billion KRW National Funds, 78 Billion KRW Local Funds... 26 Billion KRW Invested in 62 Locations
Public Buildings Over 10 Years Old Used by Children and Elderly
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangwon Province is promoting the 'Public Building Green Remodeling' project to improve the energy performance of aging public buildings used by vulnerable groups.
Gangwon Province announced on the 14th that "we have secured 18.2 billion KRW in national funds, the third highest among the 17 metropolitan local governments nationwide, confirming a total project budget of 26 billion KRW including local funds."
The 'Public Building Green Remodeling' project is a representative Green New Deal policy aimed at improving the energy performance of aging public buildings that are over 10 years old and used by vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
The province has continuously requested the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to expand the limited scope of the public building green remodeling project, and from next year plans to provide more benefits and comfortable spaces to vulnerable groups, including libraries and senior centers.
To this end, Gangwon Province has taken proactive measures such as signing the nation's first 'Green Remodeling Regional Hub Platform Business Agreement' and has been preparing demand surveys and consulting for this year's project target discovery.
