Hanwha Investment & Securities Signs Business Agreement to Develop 'Climate Risk Management Model'
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] On the 9th, Hanwha Investment & Securities announced that on the 8th, it signed a business agreement with the Financial Supervisory Service at the British Embassy in Korea to develop a 'Climate Risk Management Model.'
The agreement involved Hanwha Investment & Securities, Hanwha Solutions, and Hanwha TotalEnergies, subsidiaries of Hanwha Group, as well as NH Financial Group, Hana Financial Group, Kyobo Life Insurance, Ewha Womans University, and the British Embassy in Korea, participating alongside the Financial Supervisory Service.
The climate risk management model is planned to be developed to predict corporate losses caused by climate change and climate change response policies, enabling companies to manage uncertainties in business decision-making and allowing the financial sector to utilize it for efficient capital allocation.
Hanwha Investment & Securities will conduct stress tests related to climate change to measure the scale of losses, while Hanwha Solutions and Hanwha TotalEnergies will support various data such as energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by business and process.
Kwon Hee-baek, CEO of Hanwha Investment & Securities, stated, "It is meaningful to support companies through this agreement with the Financial Supervisory Service in an era facing climate risks," and added, "Going forward, Hanwha Investment & Securities will actively respond to climate change and practice sustainable responsible management by creating shared value with stakeholders."
Meanwhile, Hanwha Investment & Securities is enhancing its environmental management system by establishing a green office to respond to climate change. It operates an ESG Committee and an ESG Management Council and has obtained ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system.
