Jeju Air "Premium Economy Seat 'Bizlight' Popular"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Jeju Air announced on the 8th that its premium economy seat 'Biz Light,' which has been in operation since 2019, continues to gain steady popularity.
Analyzing Biz Light passengers this year, Jeju Air reported that over 5,700 passengers used the Biz Light seats during the 11 months up to last month. As international flights increase, the number of passengers using Biz Light seats is also steadily rising.
By route, from the beginning of this year until November, more than 3,000 passengers boarded on the Incheon~Clark and Manila routes, recording the highest usage. This figure is more than double the approximately 1,400 passengers during the same period in 2019, before COVID-19.
Jeju Air cited the wide seat spacing and the provision of an additional 15kg of free baggage allowance, among other various flight conveniences, as reasons for Biz Light's popularity. In particular, it was analyzed that customers in their 40s and 50s, who prefer convenient travel on relatively long routes, mainly use this service.
Jeju Air's Biz Light reduces the existing 189-seat configuration to 174 seats, changing the previous '3-3' seat arrangement with 12 seats separated by an aisle to a '2-2' layout, and increasing the seat pitch from the current 30 to 31 inches to a wider 41 inches. Additionally, it offers ▲priority check-in at a dedicated counter ▲advance seat selection ▲free baggage allowance of 30kg and priority baggage handling ▲in-flight meals and beverages.
Jeju Air operates Biz Light on four of its aircraft. Biz Light seats are available on routes including ▲Incheon·Busan~Tokyo (Narita) ▲Incheon~Osaka ▲Incheon~Clark ▲Incheon~Manila ▲Incheon·Busan~Chiang Mai ▲Busan~Singapore.
