Jeongeup-si Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' for Implementation Evaluation Report of Comprehensive Food Industry Plan
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 8th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the ‘2022 Regional Food Industry Comprehensive Plan Implementation Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
This achievement is the result of actively promoting the five-year development roadmap for the food industry, which was prepared to establish a stable food industry foundation.
The ‘Regional Food Industry Comprehensive Plan Implementation Evaluation’ was established to evaluate the implementation performance (results) of mid- to long-term plans related to production, processing, distribution, facility installation, and operation in the food industry sector, and to seek future development directions.
The evaluation was conducted through document review and on-site assessment on 14 indicators across three categories: rice sector, field crop sector, and local government implementation efforts, by an evaluation team composed of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, aT, and experts, targeting 25 cities and counties.
As a result of the evaluation, three cities including Jeongeup City, Sejong City, and Seocheon City were selected as excellent institutions.
The city established a five-year comprehensive plan for the food industry in 2020 to revitalize the food industry and develop local agriculture.
It also set its own performance goals in the food sector and analyzed facility investment demands related to production, distribution, and processing of the food industry, actively responding to changing regional conditions and agricultural environments every year.
As a result, the city achieved high performance in both sectors with 90.6% in the rice sector and 83.3% in the field crop sector, and received an excellent grade in the implementation evaluation by enhancing the value and competitiveness of the entire food industry.
Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “We will continue to cooperate with the food industry council based on the comprehensive food industry plan, promote agricultural policies tailored to local conditions, enhance the competitiveness of the food industry, and aim for stable improvement of farm household income.”
