SPC Completes Safety Inspection by External Experts... "90% of Improvement Requests Addressed"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] SPC announced on the 8th that it has completed the external professional safety inspections of all production facilities conducted independently to strengthen safety management and has addressed about 90% of the requested improvements.
SPC reported the safety inspection results and improvement plans to the Safety Management Committee, which plans to oversee the follow-up actions on the inspection results and check the final outcomes.
The safety inspection was conducted company-wide over approximately 40 days from October 21 to the end of last month, covering a total of 28 production facilities within SPC. Four external professional organizations certified by the Ministry of Employment and Labor?Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, Korea Industrial Safety Association, Safety and Health Promotion Institute, and Korea Safety Technology Association?carried out the inspections.
Through the safety inspections, SPC identified an average of about 10 major improvement items per workplace, installing additional interlock devices, safety railings, safety nets, safety covers, and other related equipment, as well as removing hazards and implementing process improvements.
In addition, SPC has addressed detailed matters recommended for higher levels of safety enhancement, such as painting safety lines, replacing ladder locking devices, and replacing cart wheel anti-rolling devices, completing about 90% of all measures to date. Notably, SPL has completed all actions regarding improvement and recommendation requests.
SPC plans to promptly complete the remaining improvement requests to eliminate hazards across all workplaces and establish a system to continuously manage risk factors for thorough oversight. Separately, SPC will take immediate action on any additional improvements needed once the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s planned supervision is completed.
