Jeil Pharmaceutical, Exclusive Domestic Sales of Osteoporosis Treatment 'Bonviva'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Jeil Pharmaceutical announced on the 8th that it will exclusively supply the osteoporosis treatments Bonviva (active ingredient ibandronate sodium) and Bonviva Plus (active ingredients ibandronate sodium and cholecalciferol) in South Korea.
Jeil Pharmaceutical has signed an exclusive domestic sales contract for Bonviva with the UK-based pharmaceutical company Pharmanovia and is actively conducting sales and marketing activities at major general hospitals as well as clinics across the country.
Bonviva contains ibandronate, a bisphosphonate (BP) that inhibits osteoclasts, thereby suppressing bone resorption and bone turnover. This mechanism helps reduce bone loss and fracture risk, making it a consistently used treatment for osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
Bonviva offers three product types: Bonviva tablets taken orally once a month, Bonviva injections administered once every three months, and Bonviva Plus tablets, a combination of ibandronate and vitamin D (cholecalciferol), allowing selective treatment based on patient preference and characteristics.
