To ensure that future generations and the Republic of Korea move forward properly, I believe it is essential to solve these problems, so we are launching the 'Digital Citizen One Team' with various organizations. Participants will lead together to create a safe and secure digital world."
KT CEO Koo Hyun-mo made these remarks on the afternoon of the 7th at the launch ceremony of the 'Digital Citizen One Team' held at Sofitel Ambassador Seoul in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Additionally, a joint declaration was made with participating companies and institutions, expressing their intention to act together and fulfill their roles to realize a safe, secure, and sustainable digital world.
The launch ceremony was attended by CEO Koo Hyun-mo, representatives from digital companies such as Google Korea, Intel Korea, BC Card, The Cheat, VP, Initech, Infinigru, and Yanolja, as well as Jo Hee-yeon, Superintendent of Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education; Lim Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education; Kim Eun-mi, President of Ewha Womans University; Lim Chae-sung, President of Seoul National University of Education; Yoon Dong-seop, Director of Yonsei Medical Center; Shinhan Financial Group; Woori Financial Group; law firms Sejong, Bae, Kim & Lee, and Kim & Chang; and the Korea Press Foundation, among others.
CEO Koo said, "KT has often brought together various organizations to achieve results, such as the AI One Team and Gwanghwamun One Team. Based on that experience, we will operate the secretariat to create actual educational content for schools, develop technology through participating institutions, and provide relief to victims, ensuring tangible outcomes."
KT presented specific execution goals through the Digital Citizen One Team as ▲ spreading a proper digital usage culture ▲ creating a safe digital environment ▲ supporting the daily recovery of digital victims.
To this end, three divisions?Education, Technology & Research, and Victim Support?will be formed to share problems and seek solutions within each division.
Kim Moo-sung, Head of KT ESG Management Promotion Office, said, "While there is much education on how to use digital technology well, efforts to use digital technology properly and responsibly have been neglected. Our goal is to spread digital citizenship centered on digital safety, coexistence, and responsibility, and to create a safe, secure, and sustainable digital world."
First, in the Education division, Ewha Womans University, Seoul National University of Education, and the Seoul and Gyeonggi Provincial Offices of Education will collaborate to provide proper digital usage education to the entire population. Customized content will be produced for all life stages, from elementary students to adults, including children and parents. Experiential education curricula using AI speakers and chatbots will also be prepared. A credible digital citizen score model will be developed to establish a virtuous cycle system where education, diagnosis, feedback, and further education can take place. As a pilot, KT is training 20 digital citizen supporters and, starting in November, will conduct digital citizen education for about 450 children at 23 regional children's centers nationwide.
In the Technology & Research division, cooperation will focus on advancing and spreading technologies to resolve digital side effects based on AI and big data. As digital abuse methods become increasingly sophisticated, prevention efforts at the individual company level have limitations, and blind spots beyond business areas inevitably arise. Since last month, seven companies in the One Team have been accelerating the advancement of technologies for early detection of voice phishing and smishing signs.
The Victim Support division, involving leading domestic law firms and the medical community, will provide comprehensive post-response support such as legal counseling and litigation for vulnerable groups suffering from digital side effects, as well as intensive psychological treatment to overcome trauma. Additionally, a working group will be operated to actively pursue practical legal and institutional improvements.
