Namwook: "I heard Jung Jinsang told Kim Manbae about submitting Jung Younghak's recording"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] When Jeong Young-hak, the private developer accountant of the Daejang-dong project, submitted the 'Daejang-dong gang' recordings to the prosecution last year, testimony has emerged that Jeong Jin-sang, the Political Coordination Officer of the Democratic Party Representative Office, called Kim Man-bae to inform him of this fact.
On the 5th, Nam Wook appeared as a witness at the trial of the Daejang-dong development breach of trust case held at the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 22 (Chief Judge Lee Jun-cheol) and said this during questioning by Kim's side.
When Kim's lawyer asked, "When did you find out that defendant Jeong Young-hak submitted the recording file and transcript to the prosecution?" Nam said, "I found out that evening on the day it was submitted." He added, "I heard that Officer Jeong Jin-sang called defendant Kim Man-bae and informed him that Jeong Young-hak had submitted the transcript to the prosecution."
He hesitated, saying, "(Whether I heard this from) defendant Kim Man-bae or defendant Jeong Min-yong..." then said, "I heard it from defendant Kim Man-bae."
Jeong voluntarily appeared before the prosecution on September 26 last year and submitted files recording conversations and calls with Nam, Kim, and former Seongnam Urban Development Corporation Director Yoo Dong-gyu.
However, Officer Jeong's side claimed Nam's testimony was "a lie," stating, "Around that time, Kim Man-bae changed his phone number, so there was no separate contact. The prosecution also knows that there was contact to inquire about Kim Man-bae's number from former Director Yoo."
Nam also testified about internal conflicts among the Daejang-dong gang and circumstances where they tried to shift responsibility during the investigation. According to the statement disclosed in court that day, Nam testified to the prosecution that "Kim Man-bae and Jeong Young-hak fought around November 2019, and I heard that Jeong Young-hak provoked Chairman Kim Man-bae significantly through Representative Yoon Young-chan of the Lee Nak-yeon (Democratic Party Standing Adviser) side."
The Daejang-dong gang had conflicts over sharing common expenses after receiving development profits in March 2019. Kim's lawyer asked again about Nam's claim, "What does it mean that Jeong Young-hak provoked a fight through Representative Yoon Young-chan of the Lee Nak-yeon side?" Nam responded, "It's about the early Daejang-dong-related matters," and claimed, "I heard that Jeong Young-hak's lawyer handed over the transcript, including parts related to 42.8 billion KRW, Cheonhwa Dongin No. 1, and the 5 billion Club, to Representative Yoon Young-chan." However, he added that he "heard this from a reporter."
