On the 5th, Gyeonggi Province announced that, together with Suwon City and the Red Devils Gyeonggi Branch, it will hold an indoor citizen cheering event for the 2022 Qatar World Cup Round of 16 match between South Korea and Brazil at 4 a.m. on the 6th, at the Suwon Convention Center 3rd floor Convention Hall located on Gwanggyo Jungang-ro, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon City.
Due to the weather forecast predicting a wind chill temperature dropping to minus 10 degrees Celsius that day, the province plans to install two 500-inch screens in the convention halls (Hall 2 and Hall 3, totaling 1,932㎡) and accommodate between 1,000 and up to 1,600 people.
To prepare for any possible safety incidents, about 200 personnel including police, firefighters, security staff, and public officials from Gyeonggi Province and Suwon City will be deployed on-site to maintain order and assist the safe return of cheering participants.
In particular, the Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters will deploy four ambulances and one fire truck to respond promptly to emergencies. A comprehensive control room will also be operated to oversee the situation. Hot packs and cushions will be distributed as cold weather measures.
Those wishing to participate in the citizen cheering event can enter through the Hall 2 gate of the convention hall starting at 2 a.m., two hours before the game time, without any separate application procedure.
Items that may pose safety risks such as alcoholic beverages and fireworks are prohibited from being brought in. After the game ends, exit can be made simultaneously through the Hall 2 and Hall 3 gates.
The province will open the convention center parking lot (basements 1 and 2) free of charge for about 1,000 vehicles and will deploy parking attendants to control the surrounding situation.
