Gangjin County Council Receives Praise for Proactive Administrative Audit
A Total of 195 Correction Requests... The Highest Number of Issues Since Opening
[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] The Jeonnam Gangjin County Council has completed the '2022 Administrative Affairs Audit' conducted during the 285th 2nd regular session over a period of 9 days.
In this administrative affairs audit, the council presented a total of 195 requests for correction and reasonable policy alternatives, the highest number since the council's establishment, demonstrating its role and function as a representative body of the residents.
The Administrative Welfare Committee adopted 72 requests and proposals for correction, including major administrative and improvement matters such as ▲ thorough management of high-priced video equipment and active utilization of purchased equipment ▲ fair selection of recipients and appropriate fee imposition when granting permission for the use and profit of shared property ▲ strict selection and contract conclusion with fair private contract companies ▲ measures to secure residences for new public officials ▲ thorough guidance and management of registered private museums.
The Agricultural Economy Committee adopted 123 requests and proposals for correction, including ▲ efficient distribution of local extinction response funds by sector ▲ fundamental measures to address the rice price collapse ▲ prompt compensation for shellfish decline damage in Gangjin Bay ▲ measures to prevent overlapping and biased support in private subsidy projects ▲ accurate budget allocation based on thorough project planning for provincial matching projects.
This administrative affairs audit is significant in that the enthusiasm of first-term council members and the know-how of senior members were well combined to accurately identify recurring issues and urge their implementation, demanding more than twice the number of administrative improvements compared to the previous year, thereby sharply examining local issues and overall county administration as representatives of the residents.
At the conclusion of the administrative affairs audit, the committee members urged, “Please ensure that the pointed issues are corrected so that the same issues do not recur in the annual administrative affairs audits, and carefully review the performance of various projects planned for this year to achieve good results by doing your best until the end.”
Additionally, Chairperson Kim Bo-mi said, “I thank all the council members who devoted themselves with one heart and mind, thinking only of the residents, collecting data, and seeking improvements for unreasonable points during this administrative affairs audit,” and added, “In the future, the Gangjin County Council members will actively resolve unreasonable administrative matters and various inconveniences of residents from the residents’ perspective, even outside the administrative affairs audit period.”
Meanwhile, on the 1st, the Gangjin County Council approved the administrative affairs audit report at the 2nd plenary session and immediately requested the executive branch to correct and improve the pointed issues.
