[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] An active-duty Army officer was arrested for sexually exploiting over 100 youths over three years.
According to Gangwon Police Station on the 2nd, Lieutenant A (24) of an Army division in the Gangwon area was arrested on charges of violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse, the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, and statutory rape of minors.
From 2019 until early this year, A approached victimized youths through a chat app, gaining their favor by sending photos in exchange for money, then gradually demanding photos and videos with higher levels of exposure. As the investigation tightened, A deleted his personal cloud account, but the police found over 1,000 sexually exploitative materials on A’s mobile phone and external hard drive.
