Namwon-si Youth Training Center, After-School Academy Operation
[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] The Jjang-i Academy at the Namwon City Youth Center After-School Academy announced on the 1st that it has been supporting the healthy growth of adolescents in need of care for three years by providing various services such as experiential activities, learning support, and meals.
Opened in February 2020, the Namwon City Youth Center After-School Academy operates with 40 applicants targeting middle school students from grades 1 to 3 within the district.
It offers professional and diverse programs including core subject learning, supplementary learning, self-study, career, creativity, culture, physical activities, clubs, volunteering, and weekend experiences, along with safe care services linked to local resources such as personal life management, life support, psychological support, meal support, and guidance for returning home.
In particular, as a self-development program, students learn instruments such as Janggu, Nanta, Tongtong guitar, and Kalimba, and opportunities are provided for them to donate their talents to the local community by showcasing their skills.
This year, participation in local events such as ‘Nosangnori Hwang Hee-jeongseu’ and ‘Provincial Sports Festival Side Events’ received high responses from local residents and served as an opportunity to increase the participating youths' interest in the community and sense of achievement.
The Namwon City Youth Center After-School Academy strives to provide adolescents with opportunities to experience and learn various activities they cannot encounter at home or school, fostering a positive mindset and creative thinking.
Despite the COVID-19 disaster situation, meal support has been continuously provided to minimize care gaps for adolescents through offline care support and non-face-to-face activity support.
Next year, various activities will be planned through public-private and community cooperation to support the healthy growth of adolescents.
