Gwangju Seo-gu Scholarship Foundation Awards Scholarships to Youth

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Gwangju Seo-gu Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Yoon Poong-sik) announced on the 30th that it held a ‘Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony’ at the Deulbol Hall of Seo-gu Office on the 29th.

The Seo-gu Scholarship Foundation recently announced the scholarship selection plan, including criteria such as academic excellence, happiness (low income), multiple children, out-of-school youth, and special (recommendation), and accepted applications.

After conducting document screening last month and passing the board resolution, 94 youths of various types were selected as scholarship recipients for this year, and a total of 104.99 million KRW in scholarships will be awarded to them.

About 70 people, including scholarship students, parents, and donors, attended the ceremony, which proceeded in the order of watching last year’s scholarship student interview video, awarding scholarship certificates, giving encouragement speeches, and commemorative photos.

In particular, Ven. Wolin, who donated 8 million KRW in scholarships in March, personally awarded the scholarship certificates and encouraged the scholarship students, attracting attention.

Yoon Poong-sik, chairman of the Seo-gu Scholarship Foundation, said, “I hope the warm donations from donors will be a great foundation for the growth of scholarship students,” and added, “We will do our best to discover and nurture local talents who will lead the future through the scholarship foundation and ensure that support leads to regional development.”

Meanwhile, the Seo-gu Scholarship Foundation, established in October 2015, promotes scholarship projects to nurture talents needed by the local community. It has also raised a fund of 5.5 billion KRW and has selected scholarship students annually since 2016, supporting a total of 584 students with about 590 million KRW in scholarships.
