The winning work, 'POTAP' (Choi Wanhyuk and Yoo Gisuk from Sejong University), was highly evaluated for its intuitive usability, featuring a front LED light that clearly indicates charging availability from a distance and a simple mechanical layout.
Also awarded the silver prize, 'EVery Charger' (Lee Ji-yeon and Yoo Ga-hyun from Seoul National University of Science and Technology) received positive feedback for applying an adjustable height display on the front of the charger to improve accessibility and usability for mobility-impaired users.
Hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the D2B Design Fair is now in its 17th year. It is a contest aimed at supporting young designers in the commercialization process of their creations, including design applications, patent registrations, and licensing agreements with companies, while providing the industry with fresh design ideas.
SK Signet provided one-on-one mentoring by professional designers to applicants who submitted electric vehicle charger product designs. Designers from SK Signet’s design team met directly with students to help them understand the complex design requirements of chargers and offered continuous feedback on their work to enhance design completeness.
