Ulsan Office of Education Confirms 2023 Elementary School Attendance Zones
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Ulsan Gangnam and Gangbuk Education Support Offices have finalized the elementary school attendance zones for the 2023 academic year.
Next year's attendance zone changes were made to shorten commuting distances: part of the area in Nongsseo 2-dong 5-tong, currently in the Sincheon Elementary School zone, has been reassigned to Dongdae Elementary School; Sinjeong 2-dong 19-tong 8-ban from Wolpyeong Elementary School zone has been adjusted to Gaeun Elementary School; and Beomseo-eup 18-tong 5-ban from Beomseo Elementary School zone has been reassigned to Cheonsang Elementary School.
The attendance zones confirmed this time will apply starting with new students in the 2023 academic year.
The Eup, Myeon, and Dong Administrative Welfare Centers will designate the schools for children expected to enroll (children born in 2016 and those who did not attend school the previous year) based on the attendance zones and distribute enrollment notices to guardians by December 20.
Children in special classes should visit the assigned school indicated on the enrollment notice or the school designated by the Special Support Center.
The preliminary gathering for elementary school enrollees for the 2023 academic year will be held on January 3?4 next year, with an additional preliminary gathering on January 10. Parents must accompany their children to attend.
However, depending on the size of the incoming class and the COVID-19 social distancing level, schedules and methods may vary by school. Therefore, parents or guardians should contact the respective school in advance by phone or review the school website announcements before attending the preliminary gathering.
Additionally, children born in 2017 who wish to enroll early or those who want to defer enrollment among next year's enrollees must apply at the Eup, Myeon, or Dong Administrative Welfare Center by December 31.
Guardians of children or students seeking exemption or postponement of compulsory education must prepare supporting documents and submit them to the elementary school they plan to enroll in from January 1, 2023, until the day before enrollment.
