Pet Product 'Volvo Save Seat' Wins Silver at the 'New York Product Design Award 2022'
Protection from Shock to Pets in Case of Accidents
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Volvo Car Korea announced on the 28th that its ‘Volvo Save Seat,’ designed for the safety of pets, won the Silver Award in the Automotive Accessories category at the ‘New York Product Design Awards 2022.’
The ‘New York Product Design Awards’ is a product design award hosted by the International Awards Association (IAA), selecting products that contribute to a better daily life through practical and innovative design. This year’s 2022 awards received over 800 entries from 24 countries. The ‘Volvo Save Seat,’ created by Volvo Car Korea, was highly praised for delicately considering the characteristics and habits of pets in its design, thereby extending the brand’s core value of safety to pets.
The development of the Volvo Save Seat involved brand ambassadors, actor couple Kim Mu-yeol and Yoon Seung-ah, who live with dogs, as well as veterinarian Seol Chae-hyun, enhancing the product’s completeness. The Volvo Save Seat protects pets, who can be seriously injured even by minor impacts. The inner seat can be separated from the cradle used for car seat fixation and can also be used as a pet sofa in daily life, providing a familiar environment to pets during car rides to minimize anxiety. Additionally, the seat is made of mesh material with a zipper opening, allowing pets to see their owners at any time and owners to easily check their pets’ condition.
To commemorate this award, Volvo Car Korea will sell a limited additional quantity of the Volvo Save Seat on the brand’s official online edit shop, the Volvo Lifestyle Shop website. Along with the Volvo Save Seat, a harness set (Volvo Save Tag) that engraves important information such as the pet’s name, a third-party guardian’s contact information, and hospital details to assist in pet rescue in emergencies will also be sold. Volvo car customers can purchase these at a 30% discounted price.
