Lee Mi-kyung, CJ Vice Chairman, Receives International Emmy Founders Award... "Will Continue to Provide More Support"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Lee Mi-kyung, Vice Chairman of CJ Group, received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 50th International Emmy Awards held in New York, USA, on the afternoon of the 21st (local time).
The Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Emmy Awards, which marked its 50th anniversary this year, is given to organizations or individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the global broadcasting industry.
According to CJ ENM, Vice Chairman Lee was selected as the recipient in recognition of her contributions to the global spread of Hallyu and the development of the cultural industry.
At the awards ceremony, Vice Chairman Lee said, "Since CJ started its entertainment business about 25 years ago, I am pleased that we have been able to serve as a cultural bridge, enabling numerous creators to realize their dreams."
She continued, "'Parasite' and 'Decision to Leave' being recognized worldwide is a source of pride as a Korean and is even more meaningful as it offers hope to people around the world that anyone can become part of the mainstream culture." She added, "Through stories that everyone can relate to, we will continue to connect the world as one and support more creators to showcase their talents."
The ceremony featured actor Song Joong-ki, who presented the Lifetime Achievement Award, actor Lee Sun-kyun, nominated for Best Actor for the Apple TV+ original series 'Dr. Brain,' and the production team of KBS 2TV drama 'Yeonmo,' which won in the 'Telenovela' category. Singer Rain and actor Im Si-wan also reportedly attended the ceremony to congratulate Vice Chairman Lee.
