Gwangju Seo-gu Council Launches 'Ethics Review Advisory Committee'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 22nd that the Ethics Review Advisory Committee has officially launched.
The Seo-gu Council Ethics Review Advisory Committee is composed of seven civilian members, including legal professionals and local government experts. Na Seung-jong, CEO of Hyojin, was elected as the chairman, and lawyer Kim Ji-yoon was elected as the vice chairman.
The term of the committee members is two years.
The Ethics Review Advisory Committee performs functions such as ▲advising the chairperson on concurrent positions and profit-making activities of local council members ▲responding to consultations from the Ethics Special Committee regarding compliance with the ethical code and ethical practice standards of local council members and disciplinary actions.
Ko Kyung-ae, chairperson of the Seo-gu Council, said, “The public’s expectations regarding the ethics and integrity of council members are steadily rising,” adding, “I hope the Ethics Review Advisory Committee will fulfill its fundamental role objectively and fairly to create a mature and clean council.”
