Pursuing the Ultimate Startup Platform City... Busan City Rings in Asia Startup Expo 'FLY ASIA 2022'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The largest-ever startup expo in the Asia region, ‘FLY ASIA 2022,’ will open in Busan on the 22nd.
Busan City has prepared ‘FLY ASIA’ for the first time this year with the goal of establishing a leading startup platform in Asia to leap forward as a startup city leading the region.
This event is hosted by Busan City and organized by Busan Technopark and the Busan Startup Support Establishment Promotion Team, running for three days from the 22nd to the 24th.
This FLY ASIA will operate over 40 programs for Asian startups and investors, with about 10,000 participants from 42 countries worldwide expected to attend.
At 4 p.m. on the first day, the opening ceremony will be held with domestic and international guests including Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, Lim Jung-wook, Director of the Startup Venture Innovation Office at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and key figures from major startup cities in Asia, marking the start of the expo.
Following this, at 5 p.m., the keynote speeches will be delivered by ▲ Richard Yonck, a futurist and author of the bestseller ‘Future Mind: The Future of Artificial Intelligence,’ on the topic of ‘The Future of the Asian Startup Ecosystem,’ and ▲ Ee Ling Lim, Head of 500 Global Asia, who will speak on ‘The Wave of Innovation Created by Asian Startups.’
At 5 p.m. on the same day, Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, along with representatives from nine major startup cities in Asia, will move to Nurimaru APEC House for a roundtable discussion.
At this meeting, they plan to introduce startup policies and best practices by city, discuss cooperation plans for the development of the Asian startup ecosystem, share policies, and form a practical startup network.
In addition, various programs will be held, including ▲ a ‘Conference’ to provide startup insights, ▲ the finals of the innovative startup competition ‘FLY ASIA Awards,’ ▲ a ‘Venture Capital Showcase’ to promote joint investment, and ▲ an ‘Investor Leaders Forum’ to build a startup investment network.

Mayor Park Hyung-joon of Busan said, “I am grateful for the great interest and support from home and abroad at the start of Asia’s representative startup platform,” adding, “We will build an Asian startup network through connection and cooperation among major startup cities in Asia and create a global investment attraction support system that can discover and support promising Asian startups at growth stages.”
