Seoul Foundation of Women and Family Holds Forum on the Development of Gender Mainstreaming Systems
'Presentation on Work and Life of Seoul Youth through Gender-Sensitive Statistics'
Exploring Directions for Youth Policy and Activation Plans for Gender-Sensitive Statistics in Gender Mainstreaming Systems
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Foundation of Women and Family is organizing an event to explore the 'Seoul 2030 Policy Direction' reflecting the realities of Seoul youth and ways to activate gender-responsive statistics.
On the 22nd, the foundation announced that it will hold a forum on the development of gender mainstreaming systems under the theme "Seoul 2030 Policy Meets Gender Mainstreaming" at the Gender Equality Library "Yeogi" in Seoul Women’s Plaza, Daebang-dong.
At the forum, the foundation will review the main results of this year’s project, "Work and Life of Seoul Youth Seen Through Gender-Responsive Statistics," followed by presentations and discussions on the direction Seoul’s 2030 policies should take using gender-responsive statistics.
To comprehensively understand the work and life of young women and men aged 18 to 39 living in Seoul, the foundation analyzed gender statistics focusing on various aspects of youth life, including ▲ youth employment experiences and environment ▲ youth caregivers ▲ single-person households, and ▲ youth life viewed through mental health.
The forum will proceed in two sessions: presentations and discussions. The presentation topics are ▲ Work and Life of Seoul Youth Seen Through Gender-Responsive Statistics and ▲ Dreaming of a New Normal in Work and Childcare for 2030. The discussion will involve public officials, consultants, and researchers who are key actors in promoting gender mainstreaming systems, sharing insights on policy directions.
In Presentation 1, Son Jeong-yeon, Director of the Seoul Gender Impact Assessment Center, will present the main results analyzed under the theme "Work and Life of Seoul Youth Seen Through Gender-Responsive Statistics." Gender-responsive statistics serve as objective numerical evidence based on gender characteristics and are used as foundational data for Seoul’s gender impact assessments. The statistical analysis of the diverse realities faced by youth can be found in the gender-responsive statistics report to be released at the end of this year.
In Presentation 2, Kim Woo-young, CEO of Milky Baby Studio and author of "I am a Mom Going Through Growing Pains Now," will present on the theme "Dreaming of a New Normal in Work and Childcare for 2030," discussing the life cycle work and childcare experiences of young caregivers, digital-based job experiences, and youth policy directions under the topic of "Care that Respects the Daily Life of Caregivers."
The discussion will cover topics such as ▲ difficulties faced by young women in the new labor environment and institutional support measures ▲ suggestions based on sharing experiences of gender impact assessment consulting ▲ and the use of gender-responsive statistics in the public sector.
