Gochang-gun to Operate 'Snow Removal Countermeasures Situation Room' Until March 15 Next Year

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced on the 21st that it will designate a four-month winter snow removal countermeasure period until March 15 next year and operate a snow removal countermeasure situation room.

The county plans to strengthen the response system for main and side roads in the eup and myeon areas using its own snow removal equipment for prompt snow removal work on 34 routes totaling 327 km within the jurisdiction.

It also established a cooperative system with related organizations such as the police station, military units, and the Land Management Office, focusing on vulnerable sections such as Yanggosaljae, Amchijae, and Banggogae, installing snow accumulation sites on mountain passes, sandbags, warning signs, and maintaining brine spraying devices.

Snow removal agents and sandbags are stocked in various locations to prepare for heavy snowfall, and tree removal is being promoted in areas where sunlight does not reach due to bushes and sharp curves during vehicle operation.

Additionally, to actively respond to snow removal complaints, 15 one-ton trucks and about 200 tractors operated by snow removal volunteers will be deployed and operated in eup and myeon areas.

Na Cheolju, head of the Construction and Urban Department of the county, said, “We will do our best to create a safe road environment by thoroughly preparing in advance and promptly carrying out snow removal work to prevent inconvenience,” and added, “We hope that residents voluntarily participate in clearing snow in front of their homes, village alleys, and commercial areas.”
