'Back to the Future' Michael J. Fox Receives Honorary Oscar Award
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Actor Michael J. Fox, famous for the movie 'Back to the Future,' received the 'Honorary Oscar' on the 19th (local time).
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which oversees the Academy Awards (Oscars), held the so-called Honorary Oscar ceremony, the 'Academy Governors Awards,' on the afternoon of the same day at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, California, awarding Fox and three others.
Fox received the 'Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award,' given to individuals who have brought trust to the film industry through humanitarian efforts.
Fox, known for the sci-fi film Back to the Future about traveling to the future by car, has been battling Parkinson's disease, a degenerative brain disorder, for 30 years.
He attended the ceremony with his wife Tracy Pollan and their four children.

The 'Honorary Award' was also given to African American female film director Euzhan Palsee, composer Diane Warren, and Australian Hollywood film director Peter Weir.
