Senior Spokesperson Park Jeong-ha said in a statement, "With Jeong’s arrest, the last piece of the puzzle has been put in place," adding, "Now all the truth will be revealed, and the real mastermind will be exposed."
Spokesperson Park also said, "You cannot cover the sky with your palm, nor deceive everyone with a single word," and added, "We hope there will be no more irrational acts defending crimes."
Floor Spokesperson Jang Dong-hyeok also stated, "With this, both the left (Jeong Jin-sang) and the right (Kim Yong) have been arrested," emphasizing, "The issuance of the arrest warrant has revealed the truth, confirming that history and democracy continue despite any shield."
Floor Spokesperson Jang said, "Deputy Director Kim Yong of the Democratic Research Institute called the puzzle of truth a 'fictional novel,' but now only one piece remains." He continued, "The last piece that anyone can fit anytime," adding, "The truth is calling Representative Lee Jae-myung right in front of him. Lies cannot overcome truth."
Jeong was arrested in the early hours of the day on charges of receiving a total of 140 million KRW in six installments from Nam Wook, Kim Man-bae, and others involved in the Daejang-dong group from February 2013 to October 2020, in exchange for providing various business facilitation. In response, Representative Lee Jae-myung posted on Facebook, saying, "No prosecution without evidence, prosecution without evidence," and expressed his position, "No matter how much the blade of fabrication is wielded, I believe the truth will not sink."
Kim Ki-hyun, a lawmaker and contender for the party leadership from the People Power Party, posted two consecutive posts on Facebook criticizing Representative Lee, saying, "He is neither honest nor conscientious, and lacks even loyalty."
He added, "With his closest aides being handcuffed one after another, which citizen would accept him sitting there feigning ignorance and talking about people’s livelihood?" and wrote, "Is there any issue more important than eradicating corruption for people’s livelihood?" Furthermore, he slammed, "A cowardly leader who is only obsessed with 'Itaewon pal-i' and a petty-minded leader like a small-minded person."
Another party leadership contender, lawmaker Kwon Seong-dong, also criticized on Facebook, saying, "Today, Representative Lee is still casting a vain self-hypnosis that 'the truth does not sink,'" and added, "Now, Representative Lee has no one left to pin the blame on, nor any tail to cut off. Even if he talks about the 'democratic forces' himself, the entire nation knows he is the 'political money power' behind the Daejang-dong gambling table."
