Damyang-gun Launches Water Conservation Campaign to Combat Drought
Lowest Reservoir Water Level Recorded in Military Suwon... Concerns Over Resident Inconvenience Such as Water Restrictions if Drought Continues
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang-gun has actively responded to water shortages caused by prolonged drought by conducting a street campaign centered around Damyang Market and Jungang-ro on the 17th, promoting water conservation in daily life.
According to the county on the 18th, due to the drought continuing since last winter, the water levels of Jangseong Pyeongnim Dam, the water source for Damyang-gun, and Damyang Singyeje Reservoir, its own water source, are only about 50% of the usual levels.
If the drought continues, normal water supply will be difficult from February next year, and in the worst case, it may switch to restricted water supply, raising concerns about inconvenience to residents.
Accordingly, Damyang-gun is making every effort such as emergency water supply, adjusting appropriate water pressure, and improving water retention rates through leak detection and repair work on water pipelines, but to overcome the drought, active participation of residents in saving tap water usage is necessary.
Damyang-gun suggested water-saving methods in daily life such as ▲using a shower instead of a bathtub when bathing ▲using collected water for washing face, brushing teeth, shaving, and dishwashing ▲collecting laundry and washing it all at once ▲placing plastic bottles or bricks filled with water in the toilet tank ▲checking for leaks in faucets or pipes ▲reusing wastewater.
