Teenagers Rob Jewelry Store at Dawn, Caught by Police
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Men in their 20s who broke into a jewelry store in Gwangju and stole precious metals worth 10 million won have been caught by the police.
The Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station announced on the 18th that they have arrested and are investigating three people in their early 20s, including Mr. A, on charges of special theft, and two others, including Mr. B, who assisted their crime, on charges of aiding special theft.
They are accused of breaking into a jewelry store in a shopping complex of an apartment in Seonam-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, around 4:17 a.m. on the 17th and stealing precious metals worth about 10 million won, including rings.
Using a hammer, they broke the entrance door and display cases, completing the crime in about 1 minute and 47 seconds.
Before the crime, they showed meticulousness by pretending to be customers and visiting the jewelry store twice to observe the store layout and the location of the precious metals.
The police identified the vehicle used in the crime and the suspects through nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) and then arrested them.
During this process, Mr. C, who engaged in a chase with the police, was booked on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (driving without a license).

The police are investigating the whereabouts of the stolen precious metals and are considering applying for arrest warrants against those involved in the jewelry store theft.
