[Asia Economy Reporter Byeon Seon-jin] The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 18th at midnight that 49,418 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the total cumulative number of confirmed cases to 26,462,319.
On this day, the number of new confirmed cases increased by 5,981 compared to two weeks ago on the 4th (43,437 cases), but decreased by 6,019 and 5,101 cases compared to the previous day (17th, 55,437 cases) and one week ago (11th, 54,519 cases), respectively. The number of confirmed cases on Fridays had been rising since October 7th (22,286 cases), but turned to a downward trend after six weeks.

The number of critically ill patients decreased by 15 from the previous day to 365. There were 63 COVID-19 related deaths, marking the second consecutive day with deaths in the 60s. The total number of COVID-19 deaths stands at 29,925, with a fatality rate of 0.11%.
