The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), together with the Embassy of Canada in Korea, announced on the 17th that they will hold a "Roundtable with the Canadian Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development" at 10 a.m. on the 25th at the FKI Conference Center in Yeouido.
This roundtable, held on the occasion of Fran?ois-Philippe Champagne, Canadian Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development's visit to Korea, will be attended by Kwon Tae-shin, Vice Chairman of the FKI, Tamara Mohyani, Charg? d'Affaires of the Canadian Embassy in Korea, and others.
Minister Champagne will deliver a special speech titled "Strategic Challenges and Opportunities between Canada and Korea" ahead of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Canada in 2023. In the subsequent discussion, they will talk about the response strategies, future directions, and areas of cooperation between the two countries amid the current international situation where the global supply chain is being reorganized.
Since the summit between President Yoon Suk-yeol and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last September, where bilateral relations were elevated to a "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," Korea and Canada have agreed to firmly establish a cooperative system between their governments and companies in the mineral resources sector to secure a stable supply chain post-pandemic.
Minister Champagne visited Korea in 2017 while serving as Minister of International Trade and also served as a director of Incheon Bridge Corporation in the early 2010s. An international trade expert and lawyer, Minister Champagne accumulated over 20 years of experience in global companies related to energy, engineering, and innovation before entering politics in 2015.
