[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Approximately 2,400 examinees who tested positive for COVID-19 will take the 2023 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) held on the 17th at separate testing sites.
According to the Ministry of Education, from the 10th to the 15th, 2,317 examinees were subject to quarantine due to COVID-19. On the 10th, 500 were confirmed positive; on the 11th, 377; on the 12th, 310; on the 13th, 182; on the 14th, 641; and on the 15th, 307.
The isolation period for confirmed cases is seven days, and examinees who tested positive between the 11th and 16th will take the exam at separate testing sites.
With an average of about 400 confirmed examinees per day, it is expected that around 2,400 will take the exam at separate testing sites.
The Ministry of Education has secured 110 separate testing sites and 25 hospital testing sites, with a total capacity to accommodate up to 12,800 examinees. As of the 16th, three examinees are scheduled to take the exam at hospital testing sites.
Starting this year, confirmed examinees undergoing home treatment are allowed to go out to travel to the testing site. Confirmed examinees must travel on foot or by private vehicle until the time of entry.
Last year, the number of confirmed cases during the CSAT was around 3,200, but this year, due to the resurgence of COVID-19, new confirmed cases surged to about 66,587 as of the 16th.
Examinees who are not confirmed positive but show suspicious symptoms such as fever on the day of the CSAT will take the exam in separate rooms within the general testing sites.
Examinees taking the exam at separate testing sites must wear masks rated KF94 or higher. General examinees may wear regular masks, but wearing KF-AD, surgical masks, or KF80/KF94 rated masks is recommended.
On the exam day, examinees must enter the testing site by 8:10 a.m. and must bring their admission ticket and an ID with a photo attached. This year as well, examinees will undergo temperature checks and symptom screening before entry, so they should arrive at the testing site with ample time to spare.
