Discussion on 2023 Gwangyang Tourism Revitalization Policies and Utilization Plans for Tourism Resources
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do announced that it held the 2022 Gwangyang City Tourism Promotion Committee (Chairman Vice Mayor Ju Sun-seon) on the 15th at the city hall situation room.
This committee started with the appointment ceremony of members following the reorganization of the Gwangyang City Tourism Promotion Committee, followed by the election of the vice chairman, and reviewed the major tourism promotion policies for 2023 to revitalize tourism. It also held multifaceted discussions on the ongoing basic plan establishment project for the Doseon Guksa Cultural Tourism Belt.
The major tourism projects for 2023 include the realization of a "New Normal Era, a tourism city that stays, enjoys, and revisits with impression" by establishing a comprehensive tourism promotion plan to discover future tourism strategies, fostering and revitalizing tourism festivals, promoting smart tourism marketing, creating the Gubongsan comprehensive tourism complex and Seomjingang digital tourism hub, and activating tourism resources by region (Baegunsan, Seomjingang, Gubongsan).
Additionally, it includes the development of the tourism industry based on the three "choe" (best, largest, most) such as upgrading the Maehwa Festival, operating Yun Dong-ju themed products, and creating a tourism complex linked to Baedo Mangdeok Port, which are campaign pledges of the 8th local government term, as well as establishing a quality tourism infrastructure base.
In particular, the basic plan establishment project for the Doseon Guksa Cultural Tourism Belt, which has been underway since August, plans to prepare concrete mid- to long-term execution strategies such as tourism belt formation plans linked with major ecological and cultural tourism resources within the region like Okryong Temple Site and Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest, and securing resources by sector, to discover content that satisfies all five senses and strengthen Gwangyang tourism capabilities.
The committee members engaged in passionate discussions on tourism revitalization, including various opinions on the direction of the project and tourism content development and stay-type tourism resource plans for 2023 from a macro perspective.
The city is making thorough preparations aiming for sustainable global tourism realization and plans to actively reflect the various opinions derived from the committee in future policy implementation.
Vice Mayor Ju Sun-seon said at the meeting, "As we are focusing our capabilities on realizing Gwangyang tourism by creating quality tourism infrastructure and developing tourism city content that satisfies all five senses during the 8th local government term, I hope the committee members will lend their support so that the tourism industry, which is Gwangyang's future food source, can start off well."
The Gwangyang City Tourism Promotion Committee, newly formed in October this year with 15 tourism experts including tourism business operators, professors, and tourism council executives, will review and advise on Gwangyang City's tourism policies and tourism development plans for the next two years.
