SOL US Dividend Dow Jones ETF, a 'Storm' on Its First Day of Launch
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] Shinhan Asset Management's 'SOL US Dividend Dow Jones' Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) recorded over 830,000 shares traded on the first day of its launch on the 15th, achieving the highest trading volume on the listing day among ETFs launched in the second half of this year.
According to Shinhan Asset Management on the 16th, the SOL US Dividend Dow Jones ETF, launched as the 'Korean version of SCHD,' saw 830,575 shares traded on its listing day, the 15th. This is the largest trading volume on the listing day among 49 ETFs launched in the second half of this year.
Individual investors poured a total of 2.8 billion KRW into this ETF. Including investment funds purchased from retirement pension accounts, it is estimated that net individual purchases exceeded approximately 3.5 billion KRW.
The domestic ETF market has cooled sharply since the second quarter of this year. In the first quarter, the average trading volume on listing day was about 550,000 shares, but since the second quarter, there have been no products with trading volumes exceeding 500,000 shares among newly listed ETFs. From a supply and demand perspective, only some theme ETFs related to government policies attracted individual investors' interest, and no products recorded net individual purchases exceeding 3.5 billion KRW.
Kim Jeonghyun, Head of ETF Management Center at Shinhan Asset Management, said, "Dividend strategy ETFs require investment consideration that balances capital gains and income returns, focusing on stable dividend yields and excellent dividend growth rates rather than market conditions." He added, "We believe that targeting the needs of individual investors looking for dividend strategy ETFs suitable for long-term investment resulted in meaningful trading volume and net individual purchases."
