Gwangyang Economic Free Zone Authority Holds Meeting with Energy Sector Expert Group
Sharing Trends in Energy Sector Technologies and Industries Including Secondary Batteries and Exploring Strategies for Attracting Companies
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Director Song Sang-rak, hereinafter referred to as Gwangyang Economic Authority) announced that on Monday, November 14, it held the 『2022 Gwangyang Economic Authority Energy Sector Expert Group Meeting』 to share industry trends and information in the energy sector, including secondary battery materials, and to explore ways to attract companies.
The meeting, held in the conference room of the Ramada Hotel in Gwangju, shared technology development and industry trends such as secondary battery material development, waste battery recycling, and new business initiatives in the energy sector. It also introduced responses to the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and prospects for supply chain restructuring.
The experts attending the meeting emphasized the need to create an industrial ecosystem and promote company attraction in connection with government industrial policies such as secondary battery industry development strategies and platform construction. They also proposed activation plans to discover and nurture various demand industries.
Additionally, a free discussion was held on discovering potential companies and investment attraction strategies.
Song Sang-rak, Director of the Gwangyang Economic Authority, stated, “With the global expansion of the secondary battery market, it is necessary to establish an innovative energy industry ecosystem in the Gwangyang Bay Area. We will diversify company attraction in new growth industries in the energy sector to create new jobs and continuously strive to expand cargo volume at Gwangyang Port.”
