Gangwon Cheorwon and Border Area Pig Farms Test Negative for African Swine Fever
Urgent Inspection of 1,590 Pigs at 68 Locations... Culling Completed at Affected Farms
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gangwon Province announced on the 14th that "As a result of detailed inspections of all pig farms (63 farms, 1,540 pigs) in Cheorwon-gun, where African Swine Fever occurred on the 9th, all were confirmed 'negative,' and no abnormalities were found in inspections of border areas such as Inje and Goseong (5 farms, 50 pigs)."
The province, through the relevant local governments, had a professional company cull all pigs (5,499 heads) at the affected farms and installed two liquid fertilizer storage tanks (200t and 400t) to bury the carcasses, and completed the disposal of residual materials (such as feed).
They plan to install one farm checkpoint and control farm access and conduct disinfection until the quarantine area restrictions are lifted.
For the 43 farms subject to quarantine measures (24 in the quarantine zone, 19 related to slaughterhouse epidemiology), clinical inspections will be conducted weekly during the pig and manure movement restriction period to check for abnormalities, and daily phone monitoring and intensive disinfection will be carried out for all pig farms in the province.

The provincial quarantine headquarters emphasized, "The vectors that transmit the virus from outside the farm or barn to the inside are people and vehicles entering the farm," and urged, "Please strictly follow basic quarantine rules such as washing hands before entering the barn, changing into dedicated work clothes, and changing boots. If sudden death occurs among pigs, do not make arbitrary judgments but immediately report to the relevant quarantine authorities."
