KT, Recruiting 3rd Class of 'Able School' for Practical Digital Talent Development
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] KT announced on the 14th that it is recruiting trainees for the 3rd class of the youth digital talent development program, KT Able School.
Able School is a program in which KT, in collaboration with the government, cultivates corporate practical digital talents and connects them with job opportunities in companies that require artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation (DX) talents, contributing to enhancing the nation's digital competitiveness. The new trainees for the 3rd class, recruited from today until December 5, 2023, will participate in a six-month training course starting from the end of January 2023.
Anyone under the age of 34 who is unemployed and a graduate of a four-year university or expected to graduate by August 2023 can apply. Able School trainees receive a total of 840 hours of theoretical and practical training during the education period and also participate in practical projects for companies.
In particular, KT Able School has established an online education and practice platform so that trainees can receive education under the same environment and conditions anywhere in the country. Education centers are set up and operated at KT regional headquarters nationwide, including the metropolitan area, Daejeon, Gwangju, Daegu, and Busan, receiving high praise from local talents. The education is provided free of charge, and current industry experts teach not only learning methods but also how to work in practical fields.
Additionally, trainees are given the opportunity to obtain the AI competency test ‘AICE (AI Certificate for Everyone),’ which assesses AI practical skills, and are offered chances to win awards through various learning events and projects. Practical support measures necessary for trainees in the job-seeking process, such as resume writing consulting and mock interviews, are also prepared in various ways.
Since the first class started at the end of last year, the second class is currently underway, and the talent development achievements so far are considerable. For the first class trainees, 78% succeeded in employment at large companies including KT and startups. More than 50% of the trainees are non-majors and local talents.
Moreover, the first class graduates participated in the ‘K-Digital Training Hackathon’ hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor in June and achieved great success by winning the grand prize and excellence awards with outstanding capabilities. In particular, the project ‘Satellite Image-Based Urban Maintenance AI Service’ by the ‘Dorojungchaldae’ team, which won the grand prize, has actually progressed to the commercialization stage.
Meanwhile, KT will hold an online briefing session for the recruitment of the 3rd class of Able School on the 22nd. Detailed information on related matters, recruitment guidelines, and the education curriculum can be found on the KT Able School website.
